Emergency stop function
Synonym(e) / Plural(e)
- Emergency stop function
The emergency stop function of a spring-applied brake is a safety-relevant system that triggers mechanical braking in the event of a power failure or in the event of danger. The braking force is generated by a pre-tensioned spring, which is held back by electromagnetic energy during normal operation. If the power supply fails, the brake is released automatically and brings moving parts such as axles or motors to a controlled and rapid standstill.
