Friction plate

A friction plate (also known as a friction plate or friction surface) is a metallic carrier plate in a disc brake to which the actual brake lining (friction material) is applied. It serves as a stable base for absorbing the forces and heat generated during braking and transferring them to the brake system. The friction plate therefore makes a significant contribution to the efficiency and durability of the brake.
