Protection class

The protection class of a spring-applied brake indicates how well the component is protected against external influences such as dust and moisture in accordance with the international standard IEC 60529. It is typically specified as an IP code (e.g. IP54) and influences the brake's suitability for use in different environments. A higher protection class ensures reliable function even under harsh operating conditions, such as in dusty or damp industrial plants.
