ATEX

ATEX stands for ATmosphères EXplosibles (French for ‘explosive atmospheres’) and refers to a series of EU directives that regulate the protection of workers and equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres. In the context of safety brakes, ATEX refers to specific requirements for brakes and clutches used in environments with potentially explosive gases, vapours, mists or dusts.
