Zone 22

ATEX Zone 22 refers to areas in which, under normal conditions, an explosive atmosphere caused by combustible dusts may occur only rarely or for a short period of time. A spring-applied brake approved for Zone 22 must be designed so that it does not generate any ignition sources – such as sparks or hot surfaces – and complies with the requirements of equipment category 3 in accordance with ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU. Such brakes are typically used in dusty industrial environments, such as under conveyor systems or in maintenance areas.
