Corrosion-protected

Protection against external influences
Synonym(e) / Plural(e)
  • Corrosion protection

In the context of an electromagnetic spring-applied brake, corrosion-protected means that the materials or surfaces used have been specially treated or selected to provide lasting protection against rust and oxidation.

This property is particularly important for holding brakes, safety brakes and working brakes that are used in harsh industrial environments or outdoors. There, electric spring-applied brakes and electromechanical brakes are often exposed to moisture, temperature fluctuations and chemical influences.

Effective corrosion protection increases the service life of the spring-applied brake and ensures that the fail-safe brake functions reliably even under extreme conditions. For power-off brakes, which are active when de-energized, corrosion resistance is a key safety feature, as they must engage immediately in the event of an emergency or power failure.
