S1 - 100 %
Continuous operationSynonym(e) / Plural(e)
- S1 - 100 % ED
S1 - 100 % refers to continuous operation under full load for electromagnetic spring-applied brakes and clutches: The brake or clutch can be continuously loaded with 100 % of its rated power without overheating or loss of power - ideal for applications that require a permanent holding or transmission function. This guarantees maximum reliability in industrial processes, for example in safety brakes or drive systems, where uninterrupted operation is crucial.
S1 - 100 % ED refers to the duty cycle (ED) and indicates that the component is switched on 100 % of the time, but not necessarily with full mechanical load. In the context of electromagnetic spring-applied brakes and clutches, 100% duty cycle means that the coil is permanently energized (e.g. with a continuous holding voltage), while the mechanical load (e.g. the braking torque) can vary depending on the application.
- S1 - 100 % = permanent full load
- S1 - 100 % ED = continuous energization, but not necessarily maximum mechanical load
This contrasts with intermittent operation S3.
